Elanchana Eristine Koldunya-Destler?
You may be wondering about that big long name I have on my description. Fear no more - I will explain all!
ELANCHANA: Loooooooong story. It all started back in fifth grade when I made a little (very poorly done) video about a witch who stole stuff from people and then changed her mind and stole the people instead. One of my friends liked it so much that she came up with a full storyline for what she called the Witches’ Council. All the girls in my group of friends were involved, and we all had “witch names”, like Arrarusia, Ranchevelle, and Iraqtomora. Most of the names were great on the first try, but two needed improving, namely mine and the one for the girl who was supposed to be the witch queen. The first name I came up with for myself was Wandia - I guess I was too focused on something that involved a magical… thing. The witch queen girl’s name was at first Blancalasinute - way way way too long. While we puzzled over how we could make that one shorter, I thought about my own witch name and decided to change it to Koolikanoona, just to avoid the weirdness that was Wandia. We still couldn’t decide on a name for the witch queen, and in a sudden moment of inspiration I came up with the name Elanchana. Unfortunately, my idea wasn’t welcomed by the witch queen girl, who still thought it was too long. Eventually we decided on a short but good name, Argome, for the witch queen, and everyone agreed that I should keep Elanchana for myself.
A while later, I was making an account for Gaia Online. I’ve always had weird issues with usernames, because they either don’t sound like me or contain a little too much of my real name. But I considered that Gaia was heavy on roleplay and decided to make the witch Elanchana my roleplaying character. It got to the point, though, when I realized Gaia roleplaying was way too different from what I was used to and started posting on the discussion forums instead. I developed a group of friends, mostly Phantom phans, and Elanchana became more and more of an identity. The nickname Ela just came from a random post in which someone shortened it a way I liked. So Elanchana/Ela has changed from a people-stealing witch into my universal net name. And I love it.
ERISTINE: A combination of Erik and Christine - obvious Phantom of the Opera reference. You can take it a number of different ways, but I link it to myself by thinking of it as Christine’s innocence and Erik’s passion for music… and loneliness.
KOLDUNYA: I also explain this on YKYAKW but it’s the female version of the word “koldun”, which, aside from being my dream guy Dima’s last name, means “wizard” in Russian. “Koldunya” therefore means “witch”, but it also is used by Dima’s fangirls to refer to themselves. Clever, right?
DESTLER: This is also Gaia-related. Two girls from my favorite thread and I became really close, and we started talking about how we were really sisters. One of them (you may know her as experimentalmadness), being the villain-lover that she is, also claimed that she was secretly the daughter of Erik Destler from the 1989 Phantom movie. The other girl and I realized that if we were going to be related to her, we were related to Erik Destler too. So we became the Destler sisters.
And that’s all there is to know about my full net name! Go have fun!
